The Solaris Operating system once owned by SUN is now procured by Oracle Corp. So I will reference it as Oracle Solaris rather than the much popular Sun Solaris.
To start with, Solaris has the UNIX kernel and runs on a SPARC ( Scalable Processor Architechture) hardware. We have already discussed the many advantage of using Unix servers. But one of the very main advantage of using UNIX Servers over Windows Server is that, there is no Downtime when using Unix servers. For example if a disk is
windows Servers needs to be rebooted inorder to acquire the new settings.
